Shrine Pass with Sheri, Irene, and Magoo

March 7, 2009 – Winter Training for Grand Traverse Ski Race

Magoo and I have been doing this ski tour for years, though we hadn’t done it in quite a few. In the past we’ve had nearly 20 skiers for this fun trip from Vail Pass over Shrine Pass and down to the tiny town of Red Cliff. Back in the day the highlight was the great Mexican food in Red Cliff, but today we’d just make the crossing and head for Edwards to have burgers with our kids. Magoo’s mom Louise helped us with the car shuttle and we dropped a car in Red Cliff and were dropped off at Vail Pass. We had perfect weather and made the 11-mile tour in a comfortable three hours. It wasn’t much training for the Grand Traverse, but it was a great time with the wife and my friends.
