Dream Mountains and Routes

My friend Hans sent me a book of affirmations and one of them said to make a list of the 50 routes/mountains you want to do and then work toward making it happen. I'm a guy who loves lists. I did all the routes in Gerry Roach's Classic Flatiron Climbs guidebook and I've done 30+ routes of the Fifty Classic Climbs book as well. So, making this list was a natural for me.

Mountains I Want to Climb

  1. McKinley - highest in North America: Cassin Ridge
  2. Hunter - most difficult 14er in North America? I want to do the Classic Route: West Ridge
  3. Logan - highest in Canada, maybe the biggest mountain in the world
  4. Kilimanjaro - highest in Africa (planning on doing this in Jan. 2006)
  5. Mt. Kenya (planning on doing this in Jan. 2006)
  6. Mt. Asgard - on Baffin Island
  7. Fitzroy - in Patagonia
  8. Tower del Paine - one of those towers. The north one is pretty reasonable. The North Buttress route on the South Tower looks great!
  9. Mt. Watkins - in Yosemite, South Face, Grade VI bigwall
  10. Great White Throne in Zion National Park
  11. Ama Dablam - every climber wants to visit the Himalaya. This mountain is probably the most beautiful; it is technically interesting; it is safe; and it isn't that high ~6800 meters.
  12. Cho Oyu - easiest 8000-meter peak.
  13. Slesse - 50CC route.
  14. Shuksan - 50CC route.
  15. Mauna Kea - highest in Hawaii and tallest mountain from base (20,000 feet deep in Pacific Ocean) to summit.
  16. Gannett - highest in Wyoming (planning on doing this in Aug. 2005, in a day)
  17. Eiger - Mittileggi Ridge, first, and then maybe someday the North Face
  18. Grandes Jorasses - Walker Spur on the north face, ideally. One of the six classic north faces of the Alps
  19. Petit Dru - north face. One of the six classic north faces of the Alps.
  20. Cima Grande of the Tre Cime di Laverado - ideally the North Face.
  21. Mt. Columbia - awesome Canadian Rockies Peak. North Ridge route.
  22. Sir Donald - 50CC route.
  23. Mt. Robson - tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies and one of the most beautiful mountains on earth.
